Welcome
to Kaffee Alt Wien.
New
with our Blue Salon.

Tradition.
Since 1922.
Kaffee Alt Wien first opened on October 14, 1922, and was taken over by Leopold Hawelka and his wife Josefine in 1936, the day after their wedding. They ran Kaffee Alt Wien until 1939, when they moved to Dorotheergasse and took over Café Ludwig, which is now known as Café Hawelka. In 1976, the Alt Wien hosted a notable event by Viennese artist Gottfried Helnwein. Due to the opening hours, but also the appearance with many posters on the walls and dim lighting, the boundaries between traditional coffeehouse, Beisl and restaurant are now blurred.
In 2020, the Blue Salon was opened in the back of the establishment. This is the ideal addition for press conferences, celebrations of all kinds and exhibitions. Art and culture have always had a high priority in the house. Our special ambience delights our guests. We look forward to serving you our specialties.

The Blue Salon.
Art and culture have always had a high priority in the restaurant. For this we have created our Blue Salon. The ideal place to drink a coffee in peace, to dine, to spend a good time together with friends. It can also be used for press conferences and celebrations of all kinds. Blue as never before.
